Since 1986, Softub® has been an extraordinary adventure.
From humble beginnings in a small shop in Los Angeles, CA, Softub® is now a worldwide
corporation with factories on both coasts and distribution in 50 states and more than 30 foreign
countries.
The primary reasons for Softub®'s great success are the truly unique break-through product concept,
like lightweight foam insulation, and the devotion and diligence of hundreds of talented, dedicated
employees, dealers, and distributors. Each Softub® is proudly handcrafted in the United States;
it doesn't come off an assembly line like most spas.

Where it started
It all started with a group of engineers in a garage over 30 years
ago. After looking at the other hot tubs available, they created a cost-effective,
durable, and comfortable model that incorporated the best features possible. -
Early green adopters
Two of Tom's early partners conceived the idea of using soft,
lightweight foam for both the structure and insulation and also developed the heat
recovery technology that utilizes the waste heat from the motor to heat the spa. A
Softub® plugs into any isolated 115v outlet to both power the jets and heats the water
without a heater. Now 30 years later, the unique, patented technologies still
distinguish Softub® as the most comfortable, movable, and
energy-efficient spa on the market. We were "green" before green was cool! -
First trade show
"I will always remember our ominous first national trade show,"
Tom Thornbury, owner and founder of Softub®. "In January 1987, I went to
the Atlantic City NSPI show with the only Softub® in existence at the time. I was
greeted by the blizzard of the century, which delayed the show and greatly limited
attendance. Nevertheless, our product attracted attention and gave my partners and
me the incentive to invest our time and limited capital." -
Fast company growth
The uniqueness of Softub® product soon generated its
reputation as a pioneer in a niche market, and 5 years later, in 1992,
Softub® gained a high position on the INC 500 list of the
fastest-growing companies and stayed there for a record 3 years.
