It All Started in a Garage
The story of Softub Spas started in 1986 with a group of engineers in a garage. They had an idea to create a cost-effective, durable, and comfortable hot tub model that utilized the best features available. There were other hot tubs on the market, but these engineers wanted to design something better. They had an idea for a tub made of lightweight foam, utilizing a technology that would use heat from the motor to heat the spa for less money than a traditional hot tub.
The First Trade Show
Recalling the first trade show in 1987, the owner and founder of Softub Spas describes arriving at the show with the only Softub Spa in existence at the time. He was greeted by a blizzard which delayed the show and greatly limited attendance. Against those odds, the product was still able to attract attention and demonstrate the opportunity for success to the business partners. Softub Spas quickly earned a reputation as a pioneer in a niche market, and by 1992, it gained a high position on the INC 500 list of the fastest-growing companies, where it stayed for a record three years.
